Who We Are

Our Mission

Lynwood Friends is a Christ-centered community of believers. We gather together, unified by a desire to know Christ, with the hopes of deepening our faith and continuing our spiritual growth individually and as one body by living by our mission to:

Love God,
Love One Another,
and Live Out Faith EveryDay.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in the doctrine of Christian liberty and that this liberty is to be granted in all areas that are not essential to one’s final salvation. While we recognize that among God’s children there are differences of faith and practice, due to our imperfection, we look forward to the time when we shall all come into a greater unity of the faith. Until then we believe that in essentials there must be unity, that in non-essentials there must be liberty, but in all things, there must be charity (love).

In the essential beliefs – we have unity

“There is one Body and one Spirit. . . there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all . . .” Ephesians 4: 4-6

In non-essential beliefs – we have liberty

“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.” Romans 14:1

In all our beliefs – we show charity

“If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have no love, I amount to nothing at all.” I Corinthians 13:2

The Examined Life

Questions to Explore Active Faith;

There is an old Quaker practice of using questions (Queries) to examine our faith and life. We offer the following, separated into 3 categories, questions for you to ask of yourself and God as you lead an examined life.
