Does Anyone Read This?

I have done a poor job of keeping up with this blog.  As I sit to write something else, I wonder if the timely nature of my writing matters?  Frankly, maybe we would do well to simply read all the old stuff, some of it is even better that anything new.

Take the Bible for instance.  It is ancient.  It was written as long ago as 5,000 years, and yet is still the most widely distributed book in human history.  I love the book.  It is incredibly insightful, full of wisdom, history and the human condition, and that is simply the surface nature of it.  On a much deeper level it is the Word of God.  It helps us to see, to interact, and work with God.  2 Timothy 3:16-17 puts it this way:

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Of course my problem is that I spend way more timing watching television then I do reading scripture.  I seem to allow myself to be influenced heavily by our culture.  But then again, I think it is way too easy to pick on ourselves for not reading enough.  How about instead we ask, "Am I reading at all?"

I encourage you, to simply pick up the Bible today and pick some place and start reading.  Who knows, God may be true to his word and equip you for something amazing as a result.

blog ideas.

How can we make this blog more accessible?
Why is it not being accessed by our church community?
How can we make the page more user friendly? What kids stuff do we have on a Sunday morning? I saw lots of stuff on playgroup and Adventure friends.
I would like to add a tab on the top for Children's Ministry and Youth Ministry. Is this something that I can do or do I need Hernan to do it?

Does Anyone Read This?

I have found that my life doesn't prioritize scripture as much as ESPN, facebook, or tv. I spend fare more time checking scores or peoples posts then reading Gods word. Its frustrating because I honestly love the Gods Word and the instruction it gives me, but why am such a slacker. The truth is we need relationships, we need accountability, we need to discuss it, just like we are on this blog. The more I talk about it the more I prioritize it and read it on a daily basis.

Retired readers

I must say that anyone who is retired has no excuse for not reading the Bible.  Reading regularly has become so much easier.  Get up early, pour a cup of coffee, and start reading.  By 7 or 8am when most of the world is at work, you are just finishing your Bible reading and ready to have a wonderful day.

By the way, last week as I read in Proverbs there was a verse about the righteous person being a blessing to a city.  That gave me pause to consider the casino proposal for Wood Village.  Yes, we need the money, but is it the work of a righteous person.  Will it bless this area?  The more I consider, the more I think we would be wise to stay clear of corrupting entertainment.  In the long run the city will not be blessed.
